More than ever, it is imperative that health professionals in LTC continuously update their knowledge of senior care issues. You won’t find a curriculum more tailored to your training needs. Each day offers 6 core hours of CE (general or recertification), and we have added 2 additional programs now required by the Florida Board of Pharmacy.

Senior Care 2017 is a 3-day program where senior care professionals and industry partners gather for networking and education. The target audience includes senior care pharmacists, consultant pharmacists, licensed pharmacists, as well as other health professionals with interest in senior care and geriatrics. The program features 22 hours of programming on clinical care, health care practice, and business issues in the senior care marketplace.

Senior Care 2017 offers a broad range of educational programming over the 3-day conference, including:

  • In-depth review of new LTC facility regulations (aka “The Mega Rule”)
  • Policy and political updates from Tallahassee and Washington, DC
  • Challenges and opportunities facing consultant pharmacists
  • Health care reform and long-term care
  • Clinical updates including:
    • Atrial fibrillation
    • Stroke prevention
    • COPD
    • Pain management
    • Infection prevention and control
    • HIV
    • Hepatitis C
    • Opioid use/abuse
  • Medication errors (Florida Board of Pharmacy requirement)
  • Validating controlled substances prescriptions (New Florida Board of Pharmacy requirement all pharmacists must complete prior to the 9/30/17 license renewal period)
  • Additional hot topics covering operational, clinical, business, and policy issues confronting senior care professionals.

Below is a brief description of the agenda and topics for each day. Sessions provide Florida Consultant Pharmacist Recertification credit OR General Pharmacist CE (approval pending).

Registration opens at 7:00 AM. Programming begins at 8:00 AM and includes 6 hours of continuing education and breaks in the Exhibit Hall. Lunch and all breaks are included in your registration fee.
